About Modern Arnis
and Remy Presas
From humble beginning in Hinigaran, Negros, Philippines to a worldwide Martial Arts Phenomenon

Innovation and Modernization
Remy Presas started training in Arnis (also known as Kali or Escrima) under his grandfather during World War II, having fallen in love with the traditional martial art of his homeland.

Over the years, he learned many different traditional styles, along with other martial arts such as karate and judo, fusing them together into an innovative approach - the MODERN of "Modern Arnis" - in 1957.

"Professor" Remy Presas came to the US in 1975, establishing the art in the West. Via seminars and camps, he spread Modern Arnis throughout the world, becoming one of the most practiced and well-known of the Filipino Martial Arts.

Remy Presas died on August 21, 2001. Since his passing, his direct students and new generations of Modern Arnis players have continued to train, teach, and share his art of Modern Arnis with the world.
